This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021

Cassia Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Languages - Nyangumarta Language and Culture – to enhance the Cultural Responsiveness of our school community through Teaching, Learning Environment, Resources, Leadership and Relationships.

The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills, be proficient in classroom management and will be able to provide an innovative teaching and learning program in Language Nyangumarta – which engages and motivates students. The teaching load will be for Years Kindergarten to Year 2 in 2021, with the option to expand to additional classrooms in future years.

Cassia PS is situated on Kariyarra land and is located in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. We have been an Independent Public School since 2013. At Cassia PS we are committed to improved understandings and knowledge of both the Nyangumarta language as a widely spoken language of the Pilbara region. The successful applicant would benefit from having extensive knowledge of the other language groups of the region and support students to demonstrate cultural responsiveness as part of their core beliefs.

This is a highly specialised role. In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
