The Opportunity
Maxima in conjunction with our client are currently seeking a passionate individual who loves being out in nature to kick-start their career in horticulture within a diverse position at local Council.
This fulltime traineeship will offer you the experience to get your hands dirty and work outdoors, working to maintain plants, parks, gardens and streetscapes for one of Adelaide’s fastest growing councils.
Receive paid, on the job training whilst studying towards a nationally accredited Certificate III in Horticulture over a 3-year period.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Garden and grounds maintenance
- Mulch, prune, pot and water plants
- Use of garden tools and machinery
- Brush cutting and mowing
- Pest and weed control, minor landscaping works
- Installation irrigation pipes and watering systems
- Liaison with supervisors and labourers
Skills and Knowledge:
- Enjoy working in the outdoors and working with garden tools
- Be committed, reliable and hardworking
- Display initiative, manage and prioritise time and tasks effectively
- Work effectively in a team and have good communication skills
- Have a can-do attitude, displaying initiative
Role Requirements:
- Must hold a provisional or full driver’s licence and own vehicle
- Physically fit and healthy due to manual labour work
- Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including a drug and alcohol test
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture or similar trade (advantageous)
