Department Secretary - Neonatal Services
Fixed Term Position, 32hrs pw

The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of newborns and women of all ages. To join the Women’s is to be instrumental in forging progress towards health equity for women from ground-breaking research through to the bedside delivery of multi-disciplinary clinical care.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a tertiary Level 6A unit where specialist care is provided to sick and premature babies across the Victoria. On average 1600 babies are admitted each year. The unit also has a key role in providing education and training for local, national and international health care professional and has an extensive research program that include long term care follow-up. Our Neonatal Research team is also recognised as a leading international health professionals

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has been designed as one unit with both intensive care and SCN Nursery Pods: with a total of 59 cots. The NICU model of care is underpinned by several principals which were developed to improve consistency of care and the engagement of families.

Your contribution 

The purpose of the Department Secretary is:

  • To provide clerical administrative support across Neonatal Services in collaboration with the Clinical Operations Support (COS).
  • To provide support to the nursing management team with diary management, meeting management and day-day clerical duties across the Neonatal Services.

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Do you have an Adminstration or Secretarial qualification / certificate or other ?
  • Extensive Experience in Adminstration / Personal Service
  • Be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia or hold a valid VISA with appropriate work rights
  • Ability to perform administrative / customer service tasks in a high volume and complex environment?
  • High level of computer literacy with a range of applications including Excel Skills, Microsoft Word.
  • Highly developed interpersonal Skills, including customer service and stakeholders relationship maintenance. 
  • Ability to record minutes at meetings
  • Ability to Problem Solve
  • Previous experience with an Electronic Medical Record
  • Previous experience and extensive knowledge of IPM
