About the role

Reporting to the Service Delivery Coordinator, the Power Systems Officer’s role is to implement and supervise the Generation Asset and Works Management processes and plans based on Generation Asset performance against criteria that support corporate objectives.

To maintain Generation Assets in accordance with corporate and divisional systems and framework to deliver safe, reliable and quality power supply with in Operational Budgets.

This is a permanent, full time role that will be residentially based in Kununurra.
You will be expected to participate in the availability roster and travel to Bentley and other districts and remote communities as required. You will also provide both hands on and supervisory power station generation maintenance throughout the Western Australian region towns and communities.

The key aspects of the role are:
Power delivery: Ensure Generation Assets are built and maintained in line with agreed plans, budgets, standards and processes
Power delivery: Carry out and conduct hands on maintenance activities and break down repairs
Power delivery: Ensure mechanical and gas assets and systems are operated and maintained in accordance with statutory and Horizon Power policy and procedure requirements
Power delivery: Ensure Asset performance is aligned with divisional and corporate performance objectives
Power delivery: Contribute and Influence development and implementation of Generation Asset Management Plan
Power delivery: Provide technical support for major overhauls, capital expansion and commissioning activities
Power delivery: Schedule, execute monitor work package delivery to support effective and efficient works delivery
Power delivery: Undertake quality assurance checks in accordance with Operations quality assurance requirements
Customer: Provide switching, isolations and permitting for work packages
People: Ensure cooperative and effective working relationships with Asset Management, Asset Services, Engineering, Commercial and other support teams.
Finance: Ensure projects executed on time and within approved budgets
Other: Deliver agreed Region outcomes for Safety, Reliability, Governance and Operational budgets
Other: Deliver contractor performance that is aligned with divisional and corporate performance objectives
Other: Manage a cooperative and effective working relationship with Internal and External Stakeholders
Other: Participate in scheduled training
Other: Participate in a revolving On-call Roster
Other: Other duties as requested

A relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification
Must possess WA Driver’s Licence Class ‘C’

Knowledge - Essential

Sound Knowledge of Gas and Diesel Powered Generation Assets and Systems
Generation/ Power Station Maintenance Experience
Computer literacy skills

Knowledge - Desired

Supervising Gas Fitting Authorisation
HV Switching Experience
Cummins Gas Engine Experience

Skills & Experience - Essential

Preferably 5 to 10 years hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of reciprocating diesel and gas fueled power stations or similar role in heavy industry
Previous supervision experience
Working knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and work order job flow in a Utility/ Generation environment
Sound knowledge of occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
