Role Summary

The Radio Communication Specialist, contributes to AFP operations by providing operational support through the acquisition, development, deployment, installation and maintenance of systems for use in Mobile Radio, and fixed site Communications equipment, Record of Interview and other electronic systems used in support of AFP operations, both in Australia and overseas.

The Radio Communication Specialist contributes to the achievement of team outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, AFP values and the AFP Governance Framework, including AGILE principles and practices.

The role is based in Perth, WA however a merit pool will be established for future vacancies located nationally.

As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

Essential Requirements

  • Formal qualifications in Radio communications from a recognised tertiary institution and/or extensive demonstrated equivalent skills and experience.
  • Experience with mobile radio communications and electronic equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Experience in the management and maintenance of IP Networks supporting voice communications.
  • Knowledge of radio communication system, design and integration.
  • Knowledge of Radio network integration with Broadband networks.
  • Knowledge and experience with digital mobile radios communication protocols including P25.
  • NV1 security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
