Tranen Revegetation Systems is an industry leader in the management of native revegetation throughout the southwest since 2002. We currently have an opening for a full-time Bushland Technician to join our Perth team, working in the Perth metropolitan area.
Our ideal candidate has a base knowledge of natural environments in the Perth region and issues commonly faced in managing them, gained through practical experience.
Role Description
This role will be varied depending on the season, and project workload. In the lead up to and during the wetter months the primary role will be in the preparation of project sites for revegetation (weed management, erosion prevention measures, site protection, revegetation activities, etc.). In the drier months the primary focus will be seed collection and processing, and project maintenance (weed control, fencing and tree guard repair, seedling watering, etc.).
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Weed management coordination and implementation (chemical / physical / mechanical) in natural areas to assist with revegetation/restoration projects (50%)
- Native seed collection and seed processing (40%)
- Site preparation, revegetation, and maintenance (10%)
- Erosion prevention in coastal and vulnerable environments
- Site and plant protection (tree guards, fencing)
- Seedling planting and direct seeding
- Watering
- Delivering projects to Tranen’s high quality work standard
Experience & Qualifications
Candidates are encouraged to apply if you can demonstrate the following requirements:
Essential
- Minimum of a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management / Horticulture or related qualification,
- Weed identification skills,
- Pest Management Technician Licence or have completed units,
- Current manual driver’s license required,
Desirable
- Weed control experience,
- Native plant identification,
- Senior First Aid Certificate,
- White / Construction Card, and
- Chainsaw ticket (desirable).
The works undertaken by Tranen Revegetation Systems require staff to be physically fit, as fieldworks are varied and physically demanding.
Training will be provided to the successful applicant as required for the role.
An attractive salary package will be negotiated based on experience and skill set of the successful applicant, with a minimum starting salary of $65,000.
