About The Role

The Head of Project Delivery at Compare the Market is accountable for the delivery of the company’s key projects which includes the management of the team of project managers and the operation of the Project Delivery function. The role of the Head of Project Delivery has responsibility for the overall management of Compare the Market’s Project Portfolio ensuring that the projects meet their time, budget and quality targets thus ensuring they deliver their intended benefit to the business. This requires strong team leadership, good stakeholder management and deep project management experience.

Further to this, the role will include the Project Delivery function ensuring Project management governance, tracking, monitoring and prioritization occurs across the projects. To do this, the owner of this role will need to establish frameworks, methods and tools to enable delivery assurance across the portfolios of work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the team of Project Managers providing leadership to the function including management, mentoring, monitoring and building capability within the team;
  • Manage the end to end (from planning though to implementation) of the Portfolio Management framework, methods, processes and tools;
  • Ensure that delivery processes are documented to drive certainty, manage risk and ensure effective delivery;
  • Establish workforce management practices and capability planning mechanisms to enable visibility and effective utilisation of the workforce (permanent, contractor, services providers and partners) to ensure successful delivery of the portfolio of work;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and peers to plan, monitor and report the performance of the project portfolio, identifying opportunities to optimise portfolio outcomes and manage portfolio resources; and
  • Lead and contribute to the divisional and team culture to ensure appropriate engagement, professionalism, accountability, leadership and contribution levels of all employees.
Knowledge And Experience
  • 10+ years Program delivery experience and disciplined leadership approach to planning, organising, decision making and delegation;
  • Strong people leadership and a proven track record in leading high performing teams including coaching, providing feedback and having difficult conversations;
  • Strong knowledge of project delivery methodologies and change management are essential;
  • Experience with workforce management practices and supply/demand frameworks;
  • Manages stakeholder’s expectations of deliverables, seeks ongoing feedback and exceeds expectations where possible;
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills;
  • Understanding of risk and financial management;
  • Skilled ability to handle complexity and uncertainty;
  • Skilled ability to contribute to and understand strategic perspectives and translate to tactical actions; and
  • Strong passion for developing talent.
