About Us

Hillarys Yacht Club (HYC) currently has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the Clubs Food and Beverage team to assist in providing exceptional hospitality in a stunning location.

We are a fully licensed venue with multiple food and beverage outlets. The venue comprises two restaurants, a casual bar and multiple function rooms. Members can enjoy a delicious meal in the restaurant on the upper level of the Clubhouse taking in the spectacular views of both the Indian Ocean and the stunning Hillarys harbour or in the ground level Marina Room with outward looking views of the heart of the Club.

We serve the highest quality cuisine and beverages with affordable prices whilst showcasing live entertainment, enabling members and guests to enjoy the Club frequently during the week and weekends.

The Club also hosts a variety of functions including conferences, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings.

The Role

HYC is searching for a an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to work in a dynamic team.

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, the role includes:

  • co-ordination of the Clubs external function business including events such as seminars, corporate bookings and weddings. This includes administering all functions from enquiry stage, meeting with clients, quotations and delivering the ultimate function experience.
  • co-ordination of Club Member related functions for a busy annual social calendar of water sports, weekly dining and social functions in the bars and restaurants and other Member related activities.
  • providing administration support to the Food & Beverage Manager including stocktaking, stock ordering, point of sale (POS) administration, menu and wine list design.
  • Rostering and supervision of Front of House staff to ensure a high quality and professional hospitality service is provided to Members and Guests at all times.
  • At varying times, required to work in the restaurant and bars.

The successful candidate will be required to work in all outlets of the Club and be required to both work alone and also in a team while ensuring all OHS and Hygiene requirements are met. Applicants must have the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, professional environment and will need a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Flexibility is required with the ability to work regular weekends, late nights, early mornings
  • POS and function software knowledge
  • Food and beverage knowledge
  • Ability to train and develop staff
  • Barista, RSA and Approved Manager qualification required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • COVID19 Hygiene certificate
  • Prior experience working in a Club hospitality environment will be viewed favourably.
