Job Summary – Who you are, and what you’ll do

We're looking for an independent, go-getting and ambitious Social Media & Communications Coordinator to build an engaging community and promote the success of the industry. This is a hugely rare opportunity to work with some of the most exciting startups in Australia.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Partnerships, this job will see you work with our team, our Members, our Partners and Ecosystem Stakeholders to develop and execute our social media and communications strategy. This program is critical to building a sense of value and belonging for our members, and building the brand and reputation of Australia’s fast-growing FinTech industry both here and in key international markets.

It’s also important to understand that this role will be highly intellectually rewarding, but by no means easy – we embrace uncertainties, emphasize independent learning and growth, and we get our hands dirty when necessary.

In doing this role, you'll be dealing with incredible influencers, terrific talent and the business leaders of tomorrow - cultivating a successful, interconnected community that is supported, engaged and right by our side as we continue to drive our policy and advocacy agenda forward in Australia and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities

Our Social Media & Communications Coordinator will identify and execute various opportunities for collaboration and connecting different parts of the community through our communications channels - Social Media, Digital Platform, Newsletters and Blogs. You’re always finding ways to promote the organisation, the industry and the opportunities for our audience.

In short, you’ll make sure our members have the information they need to succeed in the tough startup world - and whilst doing so, you’ll be championing FinTech Australia’s achievements and values, and ensuring our brand and reputation continues to grow.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Execute and develop our Social media strategy to ensure we have high levels of engagement and showcase our service offerings
  • Design and draft newsletters, EDMs, blogs and key articles
  • Update website and promote member and partner content
  • Strategise unique ways to engage and promote corporate partner offers
  • Build communities as a means of helping us grow our membership and awareness of FinTech Australia’s value proposition
  • Champion the FinTech Australia brand, values, and relevant member brands
  • Assist with regular updates and reporting to the Board, FinTech Australia Members and wider Community as required

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate member initiatives, events and meetups that facilitate a collaborative ecosystem
  • Ensure our Membership-related processes and systems such as Member onboarding, updating Member/Community Database are well optimised with maintenance and regular communications via our CRM and other digital channels
  • Own and develop the our service offerings to promote members and partners
  • Coordinate and organise member profiling initiatives such as member spotlight, podcast series, Five fintechs on Friday and any new initiatives planned
  • Develop and oversee marketing material outlining and celebrating our member value proposition
  • Facilitate online conversations and respond to queries
  • Coordinate with international associations and partner event organisers to promote to our audience
  • Conduct surveys to assess the effectiveness of our offerings and evaluate new opportunities

Qualifications required

  • Familiarity with web design and publishing
  • Excellent knowledge of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media best practices
  • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Experience with doing audience and persona research, and discovering current trends
  • Good understanding of social media KPIs
  • Familiarity with web design and publishing using tools such as Wordpress, Canva, Mailchimp, Buffer, etc.
  • Proven communications experience, including using social media and other digital channels as part of a community growth and engagement strategy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to present in front of an audience
  • Direct experience in financial services or in the startup industry is not required, but is preferable. You must at least show an understanding of, or eagerness to learn about the fintech and entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Energetic and “can-do” personality - and a willingness to “roll up the sleeves and get it done”
