About the role

In this role, you will be a Senior Backend Developer with strong skills with Python and either Java and/or Scala. You will join a small IT team and be responsible for redesigning a critical supply chain system that is critical for success of this retail business. To be successful you will enjoy working autonomously and have experience working on SDLC. Retail or supply chain experience will be helpful but not essential to apply.

This organisation is a Sydney based retail franchise who is looking to expand and grow their internal IT team to ensure delivery to customers is always operating at its best. The team is currently quite small, however they’re looking to expand the team, so there is a great opportunity for people who enjoy working autonomously to shine and really define the culture of this IT team. The business has well defined values and really believes in their people.

About you

  • Senior level experience with Software Development, preferably backend focused
  • Strong experience with Python
  • Proven ability with Java and/or Scala
  • Familiar with Linux operating system (Ubuntu/Centos etc)
  • Cloud experience, preferably AWS
  • Version control tools (Git/Bitbucket/JIRA/Confluence)
  • Proficient with data engineering frameworks (ETL/ELT)
  • Data warehousing experience highly desirable (not essential)
  • Retail and/or supply chain project experience is highly desirable (not essential)

A typical day

  • Collaborate with the team to work on improving existing systems as well as starting new projects.
  • Ensure you deliver quality code within time constraints.
  • Contribute to SDLC
  • Contribute to creating new ideas and suggesting improvements.
  • Support the products once they have launched
  • Work in an agile environment; participate in team meetings, gather requirements, sprints, stand ups etc
