  • Metro Melbourne (multiple)
  • Loddon Mallee (based at Loddon and Middleton Prison)
  • Lara and Greater Geelong (based at Barwon Prison and/or Marngoneet and Kareenga Correctional Centres)

A day in the life of our senior clinicians

You will have the opportunity to shape forensic intervention in Victoria by leading your team in providing clinical support and treatment via phone, videoconference or face to face (in accordance with Chief Medical Officer guidelines). You will also:

  • Learn from forensically-trained clinicians and a dedicated clinical director.
  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team including case workers, case managers and activity coordinators.
  • Supervise risk assessments and group-based programs using evidence-based tools.
  • Target criminogenic needs and underlying thinking patterns.
  • Coordinate service planning for community and prison-based treatment.
  • Help determine treatment pathways and prepare plans and reports.
  • Contribute to research and education in corrective therapy.
  • Consult with custodial and clinical staff on high-level issues relating to offender management.

Eligibility

To apply, you'll need to hold (or be eligible for) one of the following:

  • General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Be registered as a nurse and be eligible to be credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse.
  • Be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include national police checks and misconduct screening. You will also need to possess a current Victorian driver's licence.

A division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services provides clinical services to people who have offended in the past. We employ evidence-based screening, assessment and offence-specific intervention services to support a person's rehabilitation. In doing so, we form a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
