The Opportunity

The role is accountable for developing and delivering Cuscal’s Acquiring Product aligned to the product strategy and roadmaps to support growth and high-quality service.

The purpose of the Product Owner role is to deliver on the vision for the product, prioritisation of associated features and work, and to interact frequently with the delivery team to convey that vision, continuously reprioritise the backlog and accept the completed work on the basis of defined acceptance criteria.
Key Accountabilities:

Product Owner related Accountabilities:

  • Develop the Acquiring Product within the Strategy and roadmap
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to understand the vision and direction of the product.
  • Plan and prioritise product feature backlog and hence development for the product
  • Define acceptance criteria for user stories and attend Sprint Reviews to accept or reject user stories
  • Work closely with the development team and project stakeholders, providing vision and direction, including driving accountability and delivery on commitments
  • Work with both Scrum Masters and Project Managers associated with development projects regarding:
    • Release plans (SM & PM)
    • Organisational change management (PM)
    • Customer comms (PM)
  • Keep up to date with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends
  • Ensure projects meet the defined benefits and costs as set out in the business case
  • Identify and communicate risks, issues and blockers that may require changes to scope or escalation
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including Program Increment planning, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and backlog grooming
Product Development related Accountabilities:
  • Understand current and emerging trends, at times influencing or setting those trends within the target marketplace, and contribute to maintaining technical, competitor and supplier intelligence sets
  • Develop and understand the voice of the customer for the product
  • Support Cuscal's revenue and growth strategies through the provision of a high-quality product, including services and technical support
  • Work closely with the Compliance team to understand and assess compliance mandates from regulators, Schemes and other industry bodies and ensure all products and services are compliant
  • Ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into product backlogs and sprint plans
  • Ensure and Support the end-to-end service delivery and business processes for the product are in place and performing.
Industry-related Accountabilities:
  • Represent Cuscal in relevant Industry forums for the product, where mandatory or required to support the Cuscal product strategy
  • Responsible for representing Cuscal’s interests in relevant working groups and forums.
  • Responsible for the dissemination of Information from Industry sources to relevant roles within Cuscal.
  • Industry point of contact for communication and escalation of compliance issues.
Relationship Management:
  • Key internal and external relationships are managed in order to optimise the performance, growth, awareness and reputation of the department
  • Develop and maintain strong partnering relationships with Compliance, PMO and Technology
  • Develop and lead timely product communications.
You will have:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in product ownership, project delivery and or product development in the financial services industry
  • Proven experience in product delivery, delivering to a business plan and developing a product or service to deliver target revenue and service metrics
  • Proven experience in influencing stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Technical understanding of the supplier and competitor offerings
  • Thorough understanding of the electronic payments industry
  • Proven delivery experience of product implementation
  • Demonstrate understanding of:
    • All elements of the product or service value chain for product suite
    • What each product does in terms of performance and technical functions
    • What each product is in terms of configuration and component technologies)
    • Who each product serves (target market) with effort placed on understanding what client wants will be at the time a new product is introduced not what they currently are
    • What the product means to clients (character, personality, image)
  • Current and emerging trends within the marketplace (domestic and international), and be responsible for providing Cuscal with innovative and contemporary technical, competitor and supplier intelligence
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
