As part of the journey, we are looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our head office engineering team in Eastern Creek. The position joins a proactive team and will be responsible for supporting a range of engineering design tasks, specifically;

  • To support the development of roof rack components and accessories in accordance with Rhino Rack design and development processes.
  • Produce CAD models and engineering GD&T drawings.
  • Undertake test fitments, design failure testing and validation exercises to ensure products meet regulatory, performance and quality specifications.
  • Conduct off tool sample part inspections.
  • Generate compliance documentation, DFMEA, PFMEA and management of design parts and BOM’s in PLM.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain and Quality to assist the transition from design to manufacture.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects throughout the business.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the engineering team based in Australia and the USA.
  • Occasional travel for engineering product development and promotional work, both interstate and overseas.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to with an emphasis on internal controls and safe work place.

We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer ideally possessing the following traits:

  • Experience with Solidworks.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and hands on approach to work.
  • A good understanding of engineering drawings GD&T and documentation.
  • An understanding of part design for injection moulding and sheet metal.
  • An understanding of part design using forming, stamping and pressure die casting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Mechanical, Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineering. (essential)
  • Experience working with vehicles in a manufacturing, assembly or maintenance environment. (desirable)
