JOB DESCRIPTION
The program
Our Migration Support Programs provide help and support to refugees, asylum seekers, immigration detainees and other people who are vulnerable as a result of migration.
We do this through a range of migration programs services and programs that protect and uphold the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable migrants. We also provide services to reconnect family members whose loss of contact is caused by international or internal conflict, war and disaster.
The opportunity
This volunteer role will support clients from a culturally and linguistically diverse background who are facing barriers towards employment due to having low computer skills. This role will require working as part of a team as well as one on one with clients who have been made vulnerable as a result of migration to help them learn basic computer skills in order to gain employment. In addition to knowledge of common technology (eg. Android or iPhone, MS Office, navigating employment and Government websites) it is essential you have skills in communication, as well as patience and understanding.
Volunteers must over 18 and must have a driver’s license.
The impact
As a Migration Support Programs volunteer, you’ll help improve the wellbeing of people suffering vulnerability as a result of migration. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
For more information, please see the volunteer role description or contact Vanessa Kersting (08) 8100 4676.
