About the role

The Youth Worker Team Leader will be responsible for creating a safe a welcoming environment for young people which provides a youth support service that focuses on health and well being of young people and families living in the community. You will supervise and mentor local Yolngu staff and will be required to plan and facilitate the daily programs and activities while providing support and guidance to the youth in the community.

This position is based in Ramingining, a remote community in the NT

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and facilitate youth focused daily activities with emphasis on sexual health, domestic violence and alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Work closely with a team of female clients on youth related topics
  • Case manage job seekers to ensure participation, consistent with individual participation requirements
  • Support and mentor local staff
  • Delegate service delivery tasks
  • Develop and nurture the Youth Action Committee
  • Engage the CDP caseload who are not attending activities
  • Promote new ideas, plans and concepts within the Youth team to ensure the continued growth of activities
  • Complete weekly progress reports
 
Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Community Welfare, Youth Worker or similar discipline
  • 3 + years experience in a similar environment
  • Strong background in leading and developing a team
  • Previous experience working with young people
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities to work with people affected by trauma
  • Previous experience in running youth specific programs
  • Sounds problem solving skills
  • NT Ochre Card or ability to obtain one
  • Experience in working with youths with trauma and related qualifications desirable
