The Opportunity & Team 

Based at our Smithfield site we have an excellent permanent opportunity for a full time Production Shift Leader (Day Shift) to join the team. In this vital site based role, you will execute the strategy for the manufacturing team as well as lead the team to deliver the plan, whilst pursing improvements in safety, quality, cost operational excellence, culture and engagement.


Please note: Hours for this role are 6.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Friday, although some flexibility around hours is required.


Reporting to the Manufacturing Leader you will be responsible for: 

Safety:

  • Leading and monitoring safe work practices on site, including the wearing of appropriate PPE, identifying safety issues, reporting and investigating near misses/incidents, action close outs and ensure sufficient training of team Members

Quality:

  • Ensuring systemic DMAIC (5 Whys) problem solving is applied to achieve improvement against OGSM targets and drive accountability for quality
  • Coaching teams to ensure food safety practices are followed and high quality products are manufactured within specifications 

Operational Excellence:

  • Completing standard work and GEMBAs to ensure procedures and quality checks are completed as per plan
  • Championing teamwork to improve team behaviours and drive results
  • Driving and delivering relevant FI projects with and through the team
  • Driving accountability to eliminate waste
  • Completing all scheduled Operational Excellence activities and embed principles in team (5S, VM, FI, Safety, Standard Work etc.) as specified in relevant Operational Excellence broad plans and in line with site Operational Excellence maturity

You will have outstanding improvement and problem solving skills, and be able to motivate and inspire people at all levels. You will ideally be degree qualified in a technical or related discipline, and have experience in leading an operations team. FMCG experience and an in-depth knowledge of process improvement techniques would also stand you in good stead.
