About Ayr Health Services
The Ayr Health Service serves a population of 17,000 people. Health care services provided include: Acute Care, Long Stay Care, Accident and Emergency, Surgery, Outpatients, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Primary Health Care Services include Hospital and School Dental, Aboriginal and Islander Health, Community Nursing, Chronic Disease, Community Mental Health, Child Health, School Based Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Imaging, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Pharmacy. A number of visiting services are also provided. These include Paediatrics, Cardiac, and Gastroenterology.

Role requirements

  • Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids are required to provide evidence of vaccinations or proof that they are not susceptible (due to prior exposure to the disease and therefore have natural immunity) to the following VPD's Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and Pertussis (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis containing vaccine) according to the Queensland Health Policy. 
  • Whilst not mandatory previous administration/reception would be desirable.

Salary range of $32.83 to $38.10 p.h. (casual rate) (AO2), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation. The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent communication and oral skills with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with all levels of staff, patients and the general public.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic with an ability to work autonomously and provide ethical decision making.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook and hospital-based applications and information systems preferable.
  • Ability to provide quality administrative support to a multi-disciplinary team, whilst managing your own workload including the planning and prioritising of tasks to meet department deadlines.
  • Maintain discretion and exercise judgement where necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined, ensuring a satisfactory outcome.
  • Contribute to a cohesive team environment by sharing information, support and assisting colleagues in a proactive manner.
