The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Prostate Cancer) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will -

  • Coordinate patient flow within the multidisciplinary health care environment through the provision of comprehensive patient assessment, development and communication of evidence-based treatment, care plans and management of the care delivery process
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide care for prostate cancer patients and developing the service to ensure all stakeholders are equally contributing partners through the patient journey, including operational oversight of Cancer Multidisciplinary meetings
  • Maintain understanding of the rationale for the use of treatments and therapies used in the management of prostate cancer 
  • Provide support and advice in the management of both short-term and long-term side effects, including urinary and bowel problems and psychological and sexual function issues 

About you 

To be successful in this position you will require: 

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position
  • AHPRA Registration
  • A post graduate qualification is highly desirable 
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary 

  • Temporary full time (12 months with the possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $116 092 - $126 037 per annum

The Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse (PCSN) is a position supported by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) based in Southport. This position plays a vital role in the care of men with prostate cancer from the point of diagnosis/pre-treatment phase and then again in the post-treatment, side effect management and survivorship care. The PCSN role has a strong focus on supportive care for men living with prostate cancer and their families and will serve as a primary point of contact, assisting patients to navigate the health care system.
