As one of Sydney’s most visited museums, the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) is committed to being a world leader in maritime history, sharing the national maritime story across Australia and providing a must-visit museum experience. As part of the newly developed Programs and Site Activation teams we have the following fleet roles available.

M307 - Assistant Manager Fleet Operations This position is responsible for leading the operations of the fleet’s active vessels, and ensuring their safe working and availability for public services. This is the Senior Master for sailing activities as required and is responsible for the planning and management of sailing operations including, but not limited to, employee management, efficient and effective resource management and the treatment of vessels in line with their Vessel Management Plans (VMPs). The post holder works closely with the Assistant Manager Fleet Services to support the Fleet Manager and ensure the active vessels operated, preserved and protected in accordance with the Museum’s Corporate Plan and available for the public as part of agreed Programs and Site Activation strategies.

M308 - Assistant Manager Fleet Services This position is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and public presentation of the museums heritage vessels. This work includes effective and efficient resource planning and management in line with the Museum’s vessel management plans, budget management, employee management, and the oversight of Work Health and Safety in the maintenance of the Museums vessels.The post holder will work with the museum’s Curator of Heritage Vessels to develop and update Vessel Management Plan (VMP) for each vessel, as well as maintaining the Museum’s fleet of vessels, ensuring they remain safe, in a watertight and stable condition and are operated, preserved and protected in accordance with the Museum’s Corporate Plan and are available to the public for Site Activation activities and programs.

Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered for short listing by the Selection Committee. As part of the selection process the selection committee may invite candidates to undertake psychometric test, you should advise the selection committee if you have any special needs. Psychometric tests may be used as the initial short-listing test or later in the selection process. Some tests are very short while others may take one or more hours.
