JOB DESCRIPTION

As a new member of the Environment Team, you will join and contribute to a positive team culture, while driving and leading exciting environment initiatives to enhance our city for a sustainable future.

This role will coordinate Council’s coastal management activities for Shellharbour's open coasts and oversee implementation of the Lake Illawarra Coastal Management Program.

In addition, the suitably qualified Senior Coastal Officer will:

  • Provide advice, guidance and strategic direction on matters relating to the Shellharbour City’s coastline and lakes to the Community, Councillors, Customers and the Council
  • Support the operation of and provide high quality advice to various committees, working parties and reference groups for the management of coastal areas
  • Conduct environmental assessments of Development Applications, Construction Certificates and Complying Developments Certificates for relevant developments within Coastal areas

Reporting to the Manager Environment within the Built and Natural Environment Group, the Senior Coastal Coordinator will join a progressive, inclusive and supportive group of individuals.

  • Full time, 35 hours per week with access to flexi-time
  • Temporary position up to 12 months with a possibility of an extension
  • Salary up to $87,874.80 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience), plus 9.5% superannuation
