About the Role

As the Senior Financial Accounting Manager, you will be part of the leadership team within Central Finance Portfolio and will report directly to the Deputy CFO, Financial Control.

In this role you will be responsible for managing the University’s annual and statutory reporting, taxation obligations and other regulatory/governance reporting requirements. You will ensure the regular maintenance of the University’s accounting and financial management policy documents. You will take a lead role in ensuring the integrity of the University’s financial records and be the key contact for all external audit matters.

In addition, this role will see you manage the day to day operations and reporting requirements of the University’s treasury function, including its financial investment portfolio.

 About you 

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Significant experience in preparation and coordination of audited annual consolidated financial accounts
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, and government accounting policies, practices and procedures
  • Substantial exposure and ability to manage the University’s local and overseas tax requirements and provide clear advice and guidance to the broader RMIT community
  • Understanding of a treasury function, and the ability to create and analyse complex financial models.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven success as a leader of an accounting/finance team
  • Analytical mindset and ability to foster culture of delivering customer service to the best possible standards


  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting / Finance / Business Discipline
  • Experience in Financial and Tax accounting from a commercial or business background
  • CPA/CA qualified
