Primary objective

Ensure that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services are delivered effectively to meet agencies business


Context statement

This position primarily provides support to NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Manage the relationship between ICT service providers and agencies

2. Provide advice in relation to the development of procedures in line with Northern Territory Government ICT policies and standards.

3. Provide project management advice and co-ordinate ICT projects.

4. Ensure agency ICT requirements are identified and investigate opportunities for service improvement through the effective use of


5. Ensure that ICT services are procured in accordance with NTG procurement guidelines, whilst meeting agency requirements.

6. Provide leadership, management and mentoring to a team of IT professionals across a range of disciplines including Infrastructure

support, ICT Security, Mobility and ICT Operations.

Selection criteria


1. A good working knowledge and experience with:
a. Building and sustaining relationships in a customer-focused outsourced environment, and the ability to anticipate and positively

respond to client requirements.

b. Undertaking problem resolution, negotiating with clients and service providers to develop service improvements and providing

direction to others, and assisting them to adapt in a changing and complex environment.

2. Proven skills in managing and leading teams to ensure specific objectives are met within appropriate timeframes in an environment

influenced by continuous change and improvement.

3. Demonstrated ability to establish clear plans and timeframes for projects, and outline specific activities.

4. Sound knowledge of and experience in the specification, selection and assessment of quality ICT services that meet agency


5. Demonstrated capability in monitoring and reporting of service delivery performance, and the ability to identify opportunities for

continuous improvement.

6. Ability to interpret and implement policy and standards into agencies operations and to contribute to the development of procedures

in line with policy.

7. Very good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to deliver an excellent customer service, provide advice to and

communicate to all levels of government.
