The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading and directing the sales organization to meet or exceed sales revenue, sales profitability and budgetary objectives. This role involves strategic planning, managing people, channel oversight, executive reporting, selling, coaching and mentoring, leveraging technology and improving processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes the sales department go-to-market and operational strategies to achieve business objectives and participates with other senior managers in developing long range strategy for the entire organization
  • Improves the effectiveness of the organization and enhances productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction. Develops, documents and enforces sales policies, standard operating procedures and best practices
  • Hires, supervises, develops and mentors Sales managers and staff. Responsible for performance management of direct reports. Fosters a positive working environment to influence employee morale and engagement
  • Establishes plans for retention and continuing development of key sales talent resources and ensures sales employees are equipped with the products, systems and selling-skills’ training required to be successful
  • Develops, manages, and successfully maintains the sales department budget
  • Oversees incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
  • Provides detailed reporting metrics, including sales opportunity pipeline, sales forecast and sales force productivity information
  • Provides briefings to internal (directors, executive team) stakeholders as needed
  • Works closely with the marketing team to ensure that marketing programs meet and align with overall sales objectives. Supplies input/feedback to marketing team for consideration to improve target messaging to specific vertical markets that maximizes revenues
  • Is responsible for key customer relationships and participates in closing strategic opportunities. This includes frequent customer interactions, often in person, and proactively interacting with prospects.
  • Ability to develop and execute tactical sales plans that meet or exceed the organization’s growth objectives
  • Provides onsite leadership and actively engages and collaborates with employees in the region to help drive strong morale and a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork, providing coaching and support to Viewpoint managers and staff. Ability to provide effective and successful leadership to dotted line reports in local teams (outside of sales)


  • Bachelor’s Degree or MBA
  • 10+ years’ of progressive leadership experience with significant time leading Sales or Sales Operations
  • Software experience – both on premises and SaaS
  • Demonstrated ability to define, refine and implement sales strategies, processes, procedures and policies.
  • Strong familiarity with CRM such as Netsuite or Salesforce.com
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise sales management and related processes.
  • Ability to conduct sophisticated and creative analysis of complex data and translate the results into actionable deliverables, messages, and presentations
  • Senior level exposure, up to CEO Staff
  • Experienced hands-on manager with the ability to multi-task and drive fast paced execution through team collaboration.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate efforts cross functionally (internally and externally) to provide Voice of the Customer
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal)
  • Highly organized and self-directed with proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-pace environment
  • Successful candidates will be: innovative, persuasive, creative and have a genuine curiosity in the customer’s business.
  • Goal and results oriented, optimistic, smart, value added mindset, proactive and easily adapts to change
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and G-Suite

  • Sales experience/Trade and finance background is preferred
  • ERP software background and experience
