Position: HR Business Partner, ANZ Functional teams, and Talent Development Lead

Reports to: HR Director, ANZ

Location: Mascot, NSW

Summary Of Job Description

The HR Business Partner manages the delivery of HR services across the business, providing HR expertise to the business strategy and consulting on a variety of HR functional issues. The client group for this role would be all non-commercial functions in the Pharmaceutical division (Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Business Technology Solutions, international non-Affiliate roles based in ANZ, etc).

As Talent Development Lead, the successful candidate will plan, design, and implement the development strategy, processes and programs within AbbVie Australia and New Zealand with a strong focus on Leadership Capabilities, while fostering a continuous learning environment. Reporting to the HR Director, this role will act as a performance consultant to key ANZ stakeholders and support our global development initiatives.

Major Accountabilities

  • Act as the primary strategic partner to the business, developing HR strategies, and ensuring the effective delivery of all HR programs and services for assigned client group.
  • Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with key HR partners from all Centers of Excellence to ensure business needs are met in a coordinated manner.
  • Manage any Employee Relations issues diligently and in a professional manner, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies and practices.
  • Be an ambassador of the AbbVie Culture and Ways we Work.
  • Act as a performance consultant and work with People Managers to assess team and individual development gaps
  • Lead the creation and implementation of the Affiliates annual Learning plan
  • Continuously reassess our AbbVie Leadership programs and curriculum, and identify areas of continuous improvement, in alignment with our business strategies
  • Coordinate AbbVie’s bi-monthly People Manager Forum
  • Design and implement learning interventions in order to elevate performance and foster career progression
  • Oversee the AbbVie Mentoring and Coaching programs
  • Collaborate with our JAPAC Talent Development team to identify opportunities for various learning vehicles and solutions that boost business and people performance
  • Work with the learning team to integrate development content into AbbVie’s eLearning portal
  • Investigate, and assess new digital solutions and technologies in support of development content
  • Manage relationships with external Learning vendors and coaches
  • Establish and manage the measurement of Learning related Key Performance Indicators


Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum five years of experience as Human Resources generalist with proven experience managing employee relations situations
  • Solid knowledge of Australian labor laws, experience with New Zealand’s labor laws preferred
  • Significant breadth of understanding of functional HR roles and responsibilities and impact on the business
  • Demonstrated success in the creation and execution of development strategy
  • Experience with development and delivery of leadership and coaching skills programs with managers and teams
  • Proven experience working successfully in complex Matrix Environments
  • Experience with the development and implementation of digital learning solutions in support of agreed developmental needs
  • Experience in leading change management initiatives preferred
