About The Role

Rabobank Australia and New Zealand is a growing region and one of the best performers in the W&R network, with annual net profit of $330m from a revenue base of over $900m and cost base of over $425m. Being cost efficient while allowing sufficient investment in growth and regulatory matters is one of the key focus areas to achieve the Rock Solid Bank objective. In this role you will be a key part of the business control function with the main focus being on cost reporting and management. The main purpose of the cost control function is to be the valued and respected financial business partner for all internal stakeholders, to drive cost management performance through robust analysis, projection and recommendations. This role is also required to manage key local and global cost initiatives & processes while applying strong risk and control disciplines.

A few key responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Timely and insightful analysis, commentary and information to be provided to department heads, Executives in order to positively influence and steer the business in the right direction.
  • This role also plays a crucial role in helping the Bank control costs. As the cost controller, it requires effective analysis, assessment and monitoring of the Bank’s costs and cost structure. Early identification of cost challenges to be raised to Executives and Senior Management with recommendations and options put forward to address the cost challenge.
  • This role is a key part of the regional CFO Office Business Control function, with a key focus on reporting and controlling costs, both on-shore and off-shore. This role is required to liaise with a large number of stakeholders in regard to cost management matters and plays an important role in driving the implementation of global and regional initiatives and processes.
  • This role is required to work closely with the business in regard to project investment, reporting and benefit tracking, and with Accounts Payable to assist with delivering more insightful reports on spending, as well as monitoring and reporting cost budget deviations.
  • This role is required to take part in cost forecasting, annual budgeting and medium term planning (MTP)
  • This role is required to form strong working relationships and work collaboratively with key stakeholders including department heads and cost centre owners; Head Office Control team and other business control team members.
  • This role is required to understand and take part in formulating financial aspects regarding strategic/business plans and budgeting, and performance measurement in regards to costs
  • This role requires proficient use of analytical tool such as Power BI, MS office for data driven dashboard reporting/analysis

Who Are We Looking For

To be successful in this role you will have strong communication and collaboration skills with all stakeholders as well as teamwork and technical skills (financial acumen), excellent understanding of key business cost drivers, and ability to use analytical tools such as power BI. You will have a Degree qualification in business, accounting, finance and/or management as well as being CA/CPA qualified. A minimum +7 years in banking/ finance or consulting experience, especially in FP&A, internal management reporting and decision support; cost and project control and experience working with senior management and stakeholders management.
