About our role

The Operations Manager is responsible for creating a future-proofed, safe, productive and efficient operations for Susan Day Cakes site, which is located in Hallam. The role is also a key member of the Baking, Bakery & Breakfast business unit. 

Applying effective operational procedures, systems and processes, the role leads and maintains a culture of performance and continuous improvement to lift overall business performance. Functions under direct leadership of the role include HSE, Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehousing, and Operational Excellence.

Key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Actively contribute to the Kinrise Never Walk By safety practices on site.
  • Meet the supply needs of customers through timely supply of high-quality products at competitive prices.
  • Work with our customers to deliver joint productivity improvements and returns.
  • Embed daily management disciplines and achieve quality right first time, through CI and lean fundamentals.
  • Build people capability at all levels to create a culture of problem solvers.
  • Support the Operations & Supply Chain team to deliver both short and long-term objectives by owning and ensuring the timely execution of the site CI plan. 
  • Implement a program of sustainable continuous cost reduction initiatives, including a key focus on zero waste.
  • Ensure an effective capital management program and optimisation of working capital.
  • Proactively lead, coach and develop a high-performing, accountable, dynamic and values-based team, focused on achieving business goals and realising the Kinrise purpose, vision and strategy.

About you

  • You will have Degree in Management, Engineering, Logistics or a related discipline, which you have utilised in Senior Supply Chain/Operations Management roles. You thrive in an FMCG manufacturing environment, where you have utilised your strategic thinking, change management, problem solving and commercial acumen. 
  • You will have well-honed stakeholder management, including partnering, influencing, facilitation and communication skills.
  • You enjoy Leading, Coaching and Mentoring your reports and creating high performing teams. 
  • You will have demonstrated achievements in the deployment of Continuous Improvement and employee development systems using lean.
