Your new company 

Our client are a State Owned water resource organisation who service the Greater Sydney area. They are currently seeking to appoint a Project Manager on an initial 6 month contract basis, in Parramatta.

The purpose of the position is to successfully manage the delivery of predominantly medium to high risk/complexity projects to plan, within the Regional Annual Integrated Works Program. The Program includes capital works, maintenance and facilities management services, tactical renewal and minor works projects. The position leads collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams in the organisations and the Regional Delivery Consortium to manage and resolve complex issues and risks to project delivery.

The Project Manager will be responsible for;

  • Manage the successful delivery of predominantly medium to high risk/ complexity projects within the region from initiation through to close out and handover in accordance with NEC4 processes and within Delivery Management project delivery framework.
  • Actively drive collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams in the organisation and the Regional Delivery Consortium to ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in project delivery, cost and risk management across allocated projects.
  • Contribute to the development of the Annual Integrated Works Program, the organisation and project manage NEC4 based contracts in any of the following areas: Maintenance Services, Facilities Management Services, Tactical Renewals. Minor works (
  • Oversee medium risk/complexity projects managed by Project Managers, as required, providing support and leadership to enable the effective delivery of projects from project initiation through to hand over and close out.
  • Ensure Project Plans include clear targets, objectives, Key Performance Indicators, scope of work and deliverables which reflect the agreement between and the Regional Delivery Consortium.
  • Prepare Business Cases for medium to high risk/ complexity projects to meet client expectations, including options identification, analysis and recommendation.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the RDC to foster a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation, and address early warnings, changes to the program and compensation events, and broader safety, environment, quality and constructability compliance matters.

What you'll need to succeed 

  • Civil/Mechanical engineering degree and/or IEAust/AIPM membership
  • 10-15 years project management and construction experiences 
  • Experience delivering wastewater treatment plant projects, preferably with Sydney Water, consultants and/or contractors
  • Have the skills to build strong partnerships and be accustomed to delivering multi-faceted projects.
  • Be a confident communicator, a natural influencer who can have a positive team impact, developing and leveraging relationships across a broad internal and external stakeholder network.
  • Demonstrate honest and open interactions with others, and 
  • Have an ethical approach to work, whilst keeping safety at the front of mind, will be a norm
