The Company

Belgravia Health and Leisure Group proudly manage the City of Sydney's five Iconic Aquatic and fitness leisure centres (Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Cook and Phillip Park Fitness and Aquatic Centre, Andrew 'Boy' Charlton Pool, Victoria Park Swimming Pool, Prince Alfred Park Pool and Gunyama Park)

Our centres attract more than 1.8million annual attendances and plays a pivotal role in supporting the City of Sydney's Sustainable Sydney 2030 Strategy.

Overview

The Fitness Manager will be the driving force in delivering a high-quality fitness product in the City of Sydney Contract. Currently, the product includes 4 Health Clubs and over 200 group fitness classes a week across 6 world class aquatic and leisure centres within the City of Sydney.

The Fitness Manager will have significant experience developing and executing innovative, industry trending fitness products to deliver across multiple sites with a variety of stake holders.

They will have exceptional people skills, a passion for fulfilling the City of Sydney’s objectives and an ability to achieve specific objectives in a multi-functional role.

Position Objective

This role will be accountable and instrumental in determining the performance of the fitness product across the 6 City of Sydney sites as well as playing an active role in determining the strategic development of the contract in support of the Regional Manager.

Position Accountabilities

Operational Fitness performance

  • Plan and drive strategies to improve program participation and revenue
  • Lead the innovation of new fitness programs and initiatives
  • Work closely with the National Fitness team and Area Sales and Retention Manager to ensure fitness offerings are industry leading and delivered to the highest level
  • Monitor operational key performance indicators to identify areas of improvement

Customer Experience

  • Lead, develop and mentor all sites to achieve operational excellency through driving a people focused, high performing and innovative culture
  • Facilitate effective training to all sites in best practice training methodology and ensure awareness and utilisation of all training tools and programmes within the business
  • Ensure policies and procedures are embedded within the centre culture that they are inspected and audited on a regular basis
  • Drive a unified approach to service delivery focusing on the customer experience across all lines of core service delivery
  • Drive a customer centric culture across the organisation, ensuring that services are underpinned by best practice in customer experience

Financial/ Commercial performance

  • Manage quality, cost control and oversee the rostering of Fitness Instructors, Personal Trainers, and Health Club Coordinators
  • Drive the business discipline to achieve target turn over and profitability
  • Support the Area Retention and Sales Manager in achieving sales/ retention targets
  • Proactively seek and generate new membership sales, leads and referrals
  • Grow the membership base consistently through training coordinators

Essential Criteria

  • Working in a fitness and programs focused role as an inspirational Manager (for 3+ years).
  • Proven ability to exceed financial and operational results
  • Results focussed with multi-functional responsibilities
  • Ability to work on their own initiative, make sound judgements and take decisions in line with Council & Belgravia Leisure company quality standards
  • Demonstrate well developed communication, interpersonal, supervisory and networking skills

Qualifications

  • Certificate III & IV in Fitness
  • Registered with Fitness Australia
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate

Desirable Criteria

  • Exercise Science Degree
  • Experience managing multi-site health clubs
  • Strong understanding of management of fitness/leisure facilities
  • Strong ability to demonstrate Health and Safety standards and procedures
  • Experience and knowledge in using Links Modular Solutions Software
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business or Sports Management
