As Technical Lead for the Collins Class new Communications project, you will be responsible both for oversight and hands-on involvement in the responsibilities attached to the safe, timely and accurate implementation of the Modernised Submarine Communication System (MSMCS) onto Australia’s Collins Class Submarines.

As the WA lead you will be the primary contact for the MSMCS implementation activities with key stakeholders, including related Collins Submarines Programs, Commonwealth representatives, ASC and Subcontractor personnel, as well as Raytheon engineering and technical teams. This role will be reporting directly to the Engineering Manager for the MSMCS (5B2) Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading, planning and coordinating team members and subcontractor services to meet implementation milestones and required time frames.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks and opportunities to optimise project outcomes in all areas, including EHS, quality assurance and financial objectives.
  • Leading Platform installation, set-to-work integration (with live to air and related testing requirements) activities.
  • Meet accurate and timely reporting requirements in required formats for both internal and external stakeholders.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering with knowledge/experience in radio and information communication systems coupled with experience in Defence and/or complex systems engineering or technical maintenance environment.
  • Highly competent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; engaging stakeholders effectively at all levels.
  • An understanding of shipyard processes.
  • Ability to lead, influence and negotiate outcomes to manage multiple and conflicting stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to work independently

This position will require availability to travel to other sites as and when required. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Australian Government (Defence) Security Clearance at NV2 standing.
