Communications and Engagement Advisor

Annual Salary Range: VPS4: $87,640 - $99,438 + Super
Tenure: Ongoing

About the Team

Our division supports the Department of Transport to deliver on the Government's transport agenda, to get people home sooner and safer and to efficiently move more goods in Victoria's thriving economy.

The Communications and Engagement Advisor is accountable for supporting the development and delivery of Community and Stakeholder Communications and Engagement plans to support Transport initiatives in across Victoria. They will utilise their verbal and written communication skills to guide and shape conversations with the broader Victorian community.

About the Opportunity

  • Working on projects in the advisor's portfolio that are effectively supported by the development and implementation of strategic communications and engagement plans.
  • Supporting Departmental projects and programs generating strong relationships developed with affected communities and stakeholders.
  • Making sure Communications and Engagement plans are supported by well written and appropriately selected collateral, such as letters, postcards and other public materials support engagement activities.
  • Dealing with Stakeholder and community enquiries, feedback and issues are taken into consideration and responded to.
  • Communications and reputational risks and issues are proactively identified.
  • Work with the online engagement subject matter expert to use this platform to communicate with stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively across the Strategic Communications and Engagement division for coordinated, consistent and collegiate approaches to the work of DoT, particularly through partnerships in Marketing
  • Prepare reports and briefs for consideration by key stakeholders on critical issues and updates
  • iDevelop and consider key opportunities to proactively and positively increase the profile of the region

About You

  • Must have experience in communications, stakeholder relations or community engagement with a demonstrated ability to prepare and implement plans in these areas.
  • Possess the ability to identify reputational and communications issues and risks as they emerge and escalate to management.
  • Have the ability to successfully manage competing priorities and project tasks to ensure project milestones are achieved and deadlines met.
  • Hold well-developed written skills, especially in writing and presenting information that will be subject to public scrutiny.
  • Possess the ability to work collaboratively with project partners and senior advisors to achieve communications goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate initiative with proven ability to work as part of a team, proactively contributing to and providing support to other team members as the demand arises.
