About the role

New opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join a fast-paced outsourced payroll team. This position is a full-time permanent position, located in a modern office city fringe location. You will report directly to the Payroll Operations Manager and will work closely with the finance team. The payroll position will be responsible for high volume end to end payroll, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly and delivering high level, professional and accurate payroll services to our clients. 

Responsibilities and Duties

· Delivering end to end payroll, processing high volume payroll for 35 outsourced payroll clients.

· Processing end to end weekly and fortnightly payroll, including setting up new employees, terminations, allowances, deductions, updating details, adjustments, role changes, reconciling pay run, loading bank files and reporting.

· Assisting with month-end processes, including preparation of superannuation, payroll tax and PAYG.

· Award interpretation and the ability to provide advice on employment conditions, leave entitlements, terminations, superannuation, and taxation.

· Supporting clients with queries and answering questions regarding payroll, awards interpretation etc.

· Preparing and calculating back pay and allowances.

· Working with minimum supervision in the payroll processing team, supporting team members to meet KPI’s and payroll deadlines.

· Identify and implement process and system improvement.

Skills & Experience

· Must have previous experience in a fast-paced end to end payroll position, processing high volumes of 500+ employees.

· Strong understanding and experience interpreting different awards, including understanding leave entitlements, terminations, superannuation, and payroll tax.

· Previous experience working in an outsourced payroll environment providing customer support would be advantageous.

· Must have intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, using VLOOKUP, pivot tables.

· Experience using Chris21 payroll system.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable leading conversations

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver tight deadlines.
