The System Engineer role is at PO3 level and is Temporary full-time for up to 2 years. The role will be based in Brisbane city in Transport and Mains Road, IMD, Engineering and Technology.
In the System Engineer role you will lead or be part of a team in the development and maintenance of strategies, systems, standards, and specifications in the area of road network operations to support the States key objectives and outcomes.

In the role as System Engineer:

You will undertake Software Application (STREAMS) support and management processes working closely with strategic vendor and PD&O to underpin road network operations technical policies, systems, standards and specifications.

You will also manage or participate in projects relating to system application, analysis and management of intelligent transport systems in Queensland particularly as it relates to road network operations.

Accountabilities include:

• Lead or be part of a team that develops, supports and contract manages the STREAMS application for road network operations, traffic operations and intelligent transport systems.

• Assist in the development and implementation of complex software projects, technologies, applications, specifications and analysis.

While working closely with vendors and road network operations stakeholders across the state.

• Carry out application testing (including user acceptance) and deployment working collaboratively with the departments IT organisation, Transmax and PD&O operations staff.

• Provide traffic engineering advice and support services to internal and external clients, including advice on technical matters appropriate

for presentation to public and private bodies and in response to enquiries from the general public.

• Liaise with PD&O representatives in the identification of application solutions to traffic engineering problems (defects in system application).

• Assist in the preparation and delivery of training programs to internal and external clients.

• Prepare specifications and assess offers for the purchase of traffic engineering and intelligent transports products and services.

This position reports to the Principal Engineer System Integration

Mandatory requirements:

• Possession of a Degree in Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution and eligibility for Graduate Membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia

Desirable requirements:

• "C" Class Driver's licence

• STREAMS functionality knowledge

• Application functionality/software testing and deployment experience

• Knowledge and application of ITIL incident and Program management

• Systems contract management with vendors
