Led by the General Counsel, Legal Services at The University of Queensland (UQ) is responsible for the delivery of legal services to the Vice-Chancellor, executive management, and other key decision makers at UQ in order to support the achievement of UQ’s strategic objectives while protecting its interests.

About This Opportunity

As Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing advice on legal issues arising from UQ’s broad range of activities, particularly in respect of commercial and contract activities. You will also provide advice to UQ on its compliance with legal obligations, governance issues and policy requirements. Working in an in-house environment, you will be flexible and available to work across all streams of legal work and levels of complexity, depending on client demands, expertise and priorities.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant must be admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland, with demonstrated relevant experience in commercial law, including advising on wide range of matters. Applicants should also be capable of drafting a wide variety of legal documents and handling and resolving complex legal issues. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and efficiently in a results driven environment is a requirement for this role.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term (until 10 September 2021) position at HEW Level 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763 - $96,783 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. The total FTE package will be $103,852 - $113,236 per annum.
