About us
The Justice Policy and Data Reform (JPDR) group supports the Attorney-General in her role as Victoria's First Law Officer and her criminal and civil law policy responsibilities. We prioritise our relationships with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people-centred. The group is comprised of three branches including Justice System Reform (JSR), Justice Policy and Legislation and Priority Projects.
Within JSR, the System Governance (SG) branch has three teams, namely:
- Appointments –manages the department's high priority appointments of judicial officers and key board appointments.
- Governance Strategy and Review –responsible for governance policy and support, strategic reviews, strategic and operational relationship management and funding of the Victorian legal assistance sector, as well as support for key justice system entities.
- Honorary Justice Services Support –provides policy, day-to-day management and operational oversight of Victoria's Honorary Justices.
About the role
The Senior Policy Officer, Governance Strategy and Review is part of the System Governance unit and will be responsible for the provision of governance advice to justice system partners and departmental stakeholders, lead and contribute to strategic reviews of key justice system entities and support strategic and operational management of funding for Victoria's legal assistance sector.
About you
We are looking for people who are motivated to make an impact in delivering the government's reform agenda and influencing how a complex service delivery system works at all levels.
As our ideal candidate you will demonstrate:
- Strong writing skills with the ability to prepare policy proposals, project briefs, reports, service plans and recommendations on complex issues
- The ability to develop continuous improvement of performance targets, reporting, data gathering practices, and analysis of budget submissions
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to work collaboratively with our partners across the department and the broader justice system
