Senior Project Officer (Modelling And Analytical)

The Senior Project Officer is a strong and influential communicator; initiating and building relationships and effectively communicating complex technical issues to a broad audience.

As Senior Project Officer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to high performing team that is proactive, responsive and has a strong culture consistent with the Department's values and behaviours. In this role you will;

  • Work with water-industry stakeholders and across Water and Catchments Group to conceptualise policy issues as hydrological modelling scenarios, perform analyses and communicate key findings effectively, including in formats suitable for a broad audience.
  • Support quality-assurance of modelling, such as by supervising testing of performance of Source models and software and solving problems when they arise.
  • Coordinate resources for modelling and analysis both within the department and externally, including alignment with Urban Water Strategies and other policy programs.
  • Initiate and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders at peer or senior levels to coordinate with the broader Sustainable Water Strategy process other water planning processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders and other government agencies with the objective of fostering consistent expectations and gaining co-operation to ensure timely implementation of projects.
  • Provide strategic advice to support and develop evidence-based public policy.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is essential.
  • Experience in water resource modelling and analysis is highly desirable. The selection process may include an aptitude test to examine your approach to data analysis and problem solving.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in the field of water resources planning and management, particularly in the Victorian context, are desirable.
