The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is looking for EL1 Software Developer technologists to lead its technical capability teams of Software Developers. We are looking for Leaders who can think critically with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people. We need Leaders who are motivated to learn and develop their technical and leadership skills in support of the collection, production and dissemination of signals intelligence and to achieve offensive cyber objectives.

To be successful in the Software Development Technical Lead role you will need to work with the Technical Director and Team Lead(s) to deliver both short-term and long-term projects through the use of Agile Methodologies in the broader context of the Strategic Plan. You will provide technical and professional advice on complex signals intelligence infrastructure capability, including offensive cyber operations. You will be involved in stakeholder engagement, including managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring the delivery of appropriate services to meet customer requirements. 

As the Technical Lead you will take responsibility for setting priorities, ensuring quality of outputs, and managing the team’s deliverables. You will manage the activities and performance of your team in accordance with legislation and ASD policies and procedures.

As the Software Development Technical Lead you will lead on the design, delivery, and sustainment and iterate on in-house software applications. The applications follow a modern architecture, written in Python microservice and leverage container platform deployments. 

If you are to reach the shortlisting stage you may be required to undertake a technical test.

Skills and experience in some or all of the following areas are desirable:

• Highly proficient in Python

• Microservices

• RESTful API design and implementation

• Supporting technologies of Web Applications (Databases, Messaging, etc.)

• Front-end web development (modern frameworks)

• Basic understanding of UX Design
