Site Capital Projects - Lead

Work location: Chichester Hub - Cloudbreak Minesite

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

Reporting to the Site Capital Projects Superintendent - Chichester Hub, The Site Capital Projects - Lead will monitor, coordinate, and control the capital project portfolio from start to finish in the financial year. Project Lead will deal closely with financial budgeting, limitation, and scheduling to ensure all processes run smoothly during a project’s lifecycle.

This will also include but is not limited to ensuring safety, reliability, and maintenance demand reduction improvement projects are delivered across the Chichester in line with our forecasts and projections. These project deliverables and expectations will be reported on in set frequencies to the Site Capital Projects Superintendent and management team including the respective stakeholders and ensure portfolio discipline is maintained in the project management process.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Oversee, identify plan deviations, and recommend resolution for project managers.
  • Monitor performance and determine improvement areas by developing key performance indicators for critical department metrics.
  • Complete ad hoc assignments to support capital transition and project delivery.
  • Create and execute internal controls and offer Internal Auditor services to assure controls.
  • Maintain current and forecasted Cash Flow data when compared to projected Cash Flow.
  • Manage project accounting databases to ensure timely security and control.
  • Offer direct financial communication with project team, internal financing department, subcontractors.
  • Ensure financial information accuracy between program-level and subproject reporting.
  • Support Project Coordinators in project financial management and divisional reporting.
  • Conduct cost variance analysis and schedule against baseline values (Planned V’s Actual – Budget & Time Based).
  • Enforce actual project data collection and weekly updates and reporting.
  • Recommend and execute corrective actions to handle project compliance.
  • Plan for high risk project strategic initiatives and ensure correct duration estimated tasks.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Substantial site based, Fixed Plant Maintenance, Engineering, Major Projects, or Capital Projects experience on a mine site.
  • A proven ability to coach, mentor, and influence change in the owners’ team.
  • Proven ability to understand planning and budgetary functions.
  • Proven experience working and directing owners’ teams in all aspects of project management, (fiscal, engineering, design, execution, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover to stakeholders).

  • Considerable experience in a similar role
  • Trade Qualification – (Mech/Elec), Project or Engineering qualification considered,
  • Understanding of Maintenance & Aligned Sustaining Capital Strategies for large scale processing plant
  • Project Management – (Cert 1V or Diploma)
  • Frontline Management - (Cert 1V or Diploma)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and logistics skills
  • Extensive experience with CMMS - SAP highly regarded
  • Understanding of Change Management Principles
  • Experience working with data visualization software e.g. Tableau
