Purpose Of The Role
Define and lead system design and integration of mass transit signalling solutions.
- Define System Architecture and concept design for the project.
- Lead System Requirements effort ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Identify, define, control and manage system interfaces, including electrical, civil, operational control system (OCS) interface and software.
- Lead signalling system integration activities and support system integration team for overall RSA system design.
- Lead signalling system design reviews and provide technical leadership in external and internal customer design reviews.
- Develop and maintain a signalling System Description document.
- Provide guidance on improving system operational performance.
- Develop Operational Rules/Principles with operator and customer.
- Support the development of a System Engineering Management Plan.
- Chair Change Control Board (CCB) for technical changes.
- Support Project Engineering in all technical decisions.
- Support System Configuration Management for the system through the whole lifecycle.
- Support Sub-System team for detailed design.
- Support System Test team for non-conformity report analysis. Ensure compliance with division and department processes.
- Lead System Design on assigned projects- System Architecture, System Design, management of interfaces (ICD), including both internal and external interfaces, reviews technical specifications.
- Lead Technical meetings and design reviews - Internal meetings, Customer meetings.
- Designs engineering interfaces, gathers and analyses technical data, solves design problems, performs trade-off and coordination studies, creates novel design alternatives, develops reliability, safety and maintainability approaches, and decides on optimum design approach.
- Develop System Requirements
- Provides technical expertise in support of Customer Service, Program Management, Manufacturing, Field Start-up, Operations and Maintenance Manual production.
- Support Safety Validation
- Support further development and training of young engineers in own Technical Domain (i.e. act as Mentor).
- MS/BS Engineering (Electrical or Systems or related engineering field)
- 10 years or more experience in Rail systems design and application, experience or familiarity in application of multiple engineering disciplines to Transportation systems.
- Proficiency in DOORS, Office Suite and Configuration Management tools
- Superior verbal/written communications skills for effective interfacing with technical team members.
- Experience in CBTC system solution.
- Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role Knowledge of verification and validation.
- Knowledge of requirements management and concept design.
