We are looking to hire a Project Manager - Bid Phase to join our Commercial Operations Team in Sydney. You will have responsibility and accountability for leading and managing the Customer tender process and internal tender review process with the Tender Review Committee (TRC). Additionally you will have responsibility to ensure relationships are maintained with existing Customers, subcontractors and suppliers and continually build strong relationships with prospective Customers, subcontractors and suppliers within the renewables sector.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • A strong understanding of what enables Customer to convert a project through financial close and ability to communicate within tender submissions how SEA can assist the Customer.
  • Strong management of deliverables that meet tender timelines and understanding commercial impacts of those deliverables in the connection process.
  • Managing the engineering and commercial team to develop best for project solutions
  • Managing cross-functional interface with procurement, estimating and planning to ensure that the scope is clear and reflected in the commercial, design, delivery program and estimate.
  • A strong understanding of grid connection, construction and commercial risks that influence grid tied renewable energy projects
  • Ability to maximize the utility of the internal and external resources provided by SEA in a Customer specified tender timeframe


The role also extends across other phases of the project lifecycle including:


  • Leading the development of a benchmark database for project delivery activities (based on past SEA projects) for the development of tenders and reviews with the TRC.
  • Assisting in project conversion from project development to project delivery. Inclusive of handing over executed project files and conducting a handover workshop to the construction team.
  • Assisting in performing a review with the project development team of any tender wins/losses and determine strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and strengths.
  • Supporting the development of the cost estimate for tender submissions.
  • Driving a culture of constant improvement and coordinating with the Project Management team to incorporate learnings from previously constructed projects
  • Supporting the Project Development Manager in entering new markets and assisting with Customer meetings and interface


Qualification and Education Requirements

  • Advanced user of the MS-Office suite of applications for tender submission documents and reports.
  • Advanced understanding of tendering and construction risk management.
  • Strong commercial acumen and drive the commercial red-line process of commercial documents.[TC1] 
  • Strong understanding of planning and environmental approvals.
  • Completing a technical qualifications, commercial qualifications and risk register for each project pursued.
  • Understanding of Primavera P6 construction scheduling software and working with the project scheduler and construction team to develop a preliminary works programme
  • Completing and presenting an internal tender review presentation for the TRC.
  • Completing a change register in the event where an updated tender submission is required and obtaining TRC approval prior to submissions.
  • Manage and review tender packages and pricing for inclusion in tender estimates.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Relationships with key industry equipment suppliers and subcontractors
  • Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Business and Commerce, Business Management, Engineering or Photovoltaic and Solar Energy
  • At least 3 years’ experience in bid management within the renewable energy sector.
