Sunray Farm in Wamuran, QLD is looking to recruit 20 casual Farm Hands during our off season until harvest begins in May 2021.

The work you will be doing is very hard and physically demanding. It will involve close to ground work. You will be working outdoors in hot and humid conditions with temperatures up to 28 degrees celsius and humidity up to 90%. You will need to be fit and in good physical condition in order to be successful at this work noting the Picking roles pay on a piecework rate (see below). If you cannot handle hard labour then this isn’t the job for you.

We start at 6am and finish is usually 3pm. Make sure if you want a day off let your supervisor know early, not on the day.


You will be paid on a hourly rate basis as a Level 1 Casual employee under the Horticulture Award 2010 (MA000028). 

As a casual worker you will not get paid if you are sick or do not work.

Pay: Working week runs Monday – Sunday. Your pay day is the following Wednesday. Your working pattern hours will vary and are sometimes driven by the weather and the ability to work the ground during off season.

Payslips are sent via email. Money is transferred into your nominated bank account.

Optional Accommodation

Donga Accommodation is available for $110 a week. No bond & no notice required.

The rooms are 2 per room (bunk beds) and a fridge and Free Wifi is provided. 

You’ll have to bring your own blanket/ bed sheets/ pillow cases/ sleeping bag/ pillow.

A fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances and utensils is available free of charge.

There are also toilet and shower blocks at the accommodation.

Washing machines are available to use at a small cost.

Transport to the farms and shopping is provided to users of the farm accommodation.

You can still work at Sunray without staying on the farm. Although you will need to provide your own transport to commute to the farm each day.

Additional information

ID cards are provided free of charge.

Farm wear:
Casual clothing. Rain boots preferred because it can be muddy! Make sure you have a hat.

Things to bring to work.
Must always have food as we do have some long days. Bring plenty of water. Sunscreen. Weeding gloves (cutting), plastic gloves (picking) gumboots, hat etc.

Make sure you all have a copy of your passport photo and visa grants to give to the office.
