  • Full Time / Term Contract (up to 23 July 2021) The Director / Manager, Disease Surveillance and Investigation is accountable to the Director, Communicable Disease Control Branch and contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives and outcomes designed to control the occurrence of communicable diseases in South Australia. The incumbent is responsible for the operational, human and fiscal management of the Disease Surveillance and Investigation Section, Communicable Disease Control Branch. The role is responsible for managing and supervising a multidisciplinary team responsible for the surveillance, investigation, control, and reporting of communicable diseases in South Australia. The incumbent is also responsible for managing the selection and training of post-graduate public health field epidemiology students. The Director / Manager is responsible for implementing best practices in surveillance and management of communicable disease outbreaks and is accountable for surveillance outcomes including local and national targets and reporting requirements. The position is responsible for leading, developing and providing strategic and operational advice on formulating and managing business plans, operational guidelines, major projects and research studies. The incumbent is also required to participate in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of local and national corporate policies and directives. The incumbent is required to provide expert consultancy advice to external bodies, agencies and the general public. The Director will represent Department for Health and Wellbeing on regional, state and national committees. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
