The Position

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital has an exciting new opportunity for a passionate, innovate and experienced Senior Registered Nurse to lead our new Rehabilitation Unit.

SJG Mt Lawley is a major provider of rehabilitation services across Western Australia and has a vast experience delivering rehabilitation to both public and private patients.

This new 16 bed unit, scheduled to open in early February, will be SJGMLH’s third Rehabilitation unit and will be supported by a team of experienced rehabilitation leaders, nurses, allied health and medical staff (caregivers).

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will experience the challenges and triumphs of:

  • Providing ongoing support and commitment to your team to achieve excellence within the service,
  • Working collaboratively with your reports in the department,
  • Providing excellent clinical knowledge and practice to patients, families, and the team while maintaining strong relationships,
  • Facilitating caregiver development including coaching, mentoring and achieving clinical competencies,
  • Coordinating and managing caregivers (rosters, skill mix, FTE requirements),
  • Seeking opportunities for innovative approaches.

This position will be offered on a permanent full time basis, working 76 hours a fortnight.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a relevant health care setting.
  • Recent experience at a middle-management or senior management level.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, Competency Standards and Scope of Practice regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements of Occupational Safety & Health; Equal Opportunity and Disability Services and how these affects employment, people management and service delivery.
  • Extensive knowledge of National standards and ability to apply continuous quality improvement principles to enhance service delivery.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare financial management processes.
  • Evidence of excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to foster teamwork; manage and motivate staff and deliver a quality service that meets industry benchmarks and patient expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage human, financial and physical resources in the delivery of a range of complex services utilizing relevant computer based systems.
  • Advanced level communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, including conflict resolution, report writing and analytical assessment.
