We have an exciting new opportunity within our Customer Decision Management team within our Consumer Division. The team is responsible for assisting the Westpac Group in complying with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) legislation. As part of these obligations, the Westpac Group must be capable of identifying, managing and mitigating its ML/TF risks.

The Customer Decision Management team within Consumer Division is responsible for conducting risk assessment of high-risk customers and make recommendations/decisions to retain or exit the customer relationship across all Westpac Group brands for Consumer held products.

How will I help?

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Crime - Customer Decision Management, the role will see you conduct holistic risk assessments and investigate high risk customers that have been escalated due to Money Launder/Terrorism Financing/Sanctions concerns in accordance with risk framework and determine appropriate course of action. You will be required to make sound risk decisions on the high-risk customer assessment within the Delegated Level of Authority (DLA).

Where appropriate you will perform Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) reviews and request Needs Based Conversation to be conducted with customers to obtain the necessary information required to make informed risk decisions/recommendations.

You will engage with various stakeholders across the business and act as a reference point when required and take responsibility for educating them on Westpac’s standards and obligations. This will require you to remain up to date with the latest legislation and requirements relating to High-Risk Customers, Transaction Monitoring and Suspicious Matter Reporting.

The role will also see you in join as a part of a team where you will be required where appropriate to coach, mentor and develop other team members and drive Westpac’s values and a high performance culture within the team.

What do I need?

To be a success in this role you will need to bring, knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering & Counter Terrorism Financing as well as a sound knowledge of banking products.

You will need strong attention to detail and be an analytical/critical thinker as you will be required to read and interpret information that you will then need to apply to various controls and communicate to the business.

As there are a broad range of stakeholders that the team interacts with you will need to be comfortable in facing off to various stakeholders within the business operating at different levels, so well developed written/verbal communication skills with excellent report writing capacity is essential to the role.
