Senior Compliance Manager - Financial Markets

How will I help?

Reporting to the Executive Manager, WIB Compliance, this person will be responsible for providing relevant compliance advice, insight, oversight and monitoring over all activities relating to the Financial Markets business, including activities relevant to Westpac’s G20 OTC derivative reform requirements. You will effectively and proactively identify and escalate compliance and conduct risks and issues to ensure that they are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner.

You will assist Westpac’s businesses to make risk/reward decisions by helping to identify and balance risks and competing priorities in a complex and fast paced decision-making environment. You will support the implementation of Westpac’s compliance strategy across the FM business and WIB more generally whilst driving best practice approach to compliance and risk management, including conflicts management.

You will engage with senior business leaders across the WIB business to deliver an effective strategy and provide advice, insight and support to the business agenda by advising on compliance policies and procedures, reviewing and advising on new products or variations and managing incident and issue resolution.

What do I need?

A strong candidate will bring relevant experience in compliance, risk, law, audit, assurance, or a related advisory discipline. You will have an understanding of the Financial Markets business and its specific business activities, including OTC derivative dealing activities. This person could be making the move out of audit/consulting having worked on risk advisory projects. You will bring an open minded way of thinking and you will be comfortable in developing and nurturing stakeholder relationships across the business. You will be proficient in both your verbal and written communication
