School of Veterinary Science

The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.

About This Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to work as part of a clinical team in a fully functional mixed veterinary teaching practice. The position requires the veterinarian to teach and instruct undergraduate veterinary students whilst on clinical rotation at Dayboro. The veterinarian along with the students will manage clinical cases, including general health exams, vaccinations, emergency consultations and surgical procedures, diagnostic work ups and other treatments as per required. Dayboro is a true 50/50 mixed practice, treating a huge array of species ranging from dogs and cats to cows, horses and camelids.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a BVSc (or equivalent) that is registrable in Queensland, together with experience in the delivery of rural/mixed practice veterinary services or equivalent. Teaching experience is not necessary. All applications will be considered.

What We Can Offer

This is a casual position at HEW Level 6.1. The remuneration for the position will be $53.39 per hour (inclusive of a 25% casual loading) plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5%.

This position offers flexible working arrangements (full time hours worked over 4 days equivalent to 36.15hrs/ week).
