About us
Challenge Disability Services provide Supported Independent Living programs (also known as group homes). We provide modern 3-5 bedroom homes with Support Workers on hand 24/7 for NDIS participants with Supported Independent Living (SIL) funding.
We support participants with low, moderate and high support needs with a Mental Health diagnosis & across all identified disabilities, from all backgrounds, in single and multiple programs.
We identify individual needs and tailor programs to suit. Every program is aimed at developing and maximizing each individual’s potential as a person and as a member of the community.
The role
The role of a Mental Health & Disability Support Worker in Accommodation Services is to provide support to our clients with a disability who require assistance with personal care and daily tasks; with a strong focus on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible within a shared living and one on one environment. Residents are supported each morning and afternoon, overnight and on weekends by experienced and qualified staff. We have multiple permanent part time opportunities available in the Coffs Region.
About you
- Is passionate about supporting clients with Mental Health and advancing and empowering the lives of others.
- Is compassionate and demonstrates empathy.
- Is able to handle complex or challenging situations calmly and rationally.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Australian Drivers Licence
- First Aid certificate or the willingness to get one within the onboarding stage.
- Flexibility to work within a service that provides 24/7 care, this includes weekend work, sleepover and or active night shifts within a fortnightly roster.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite particularly MS Word and MS Outlook.
- NDIS Workers Screening Check
Desirable Criteria
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or equivalent.
- Demonstrated understanding in the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) processes.
- Mental Health First Aid.
Job Benefits
In addition to competitive pay rates the successful applicant will also have access to:
- Entry rate of $28.41 per hour. Higher pay points may be applicable based on qualifications and or experience. Options to Salary Package up to $15,900 tax free pay per fringe benefit year.
