JOB DESCRIPTION

Leading the strategy and direction of The Good Chat Foundation, the director role is crucial to the long term success of the charitable impact in our community.

The Good Chat Foundation has been operating since December 2019, delivering programs to support disadvantaged young people with mental health concerns through community sport. Despite a global pandemic, we have delivered programs and assisted 70 children to build confidence, purpose and belonging.

In your Non-Executive Director (NED) role in the foundation, you'll be an active part of the board. Utilising your existing skills and knowledge, you will be in a position to provide guidance and advice to the Executive Directors. You'll also have the opportunity to broaden your skills beyond your formal qualifications by attending training & development courses.

The foundation is looking for candidates who bring with them a background or experience in finance, fundraising, public and government relations, as well as grant writing or extensive experience within the not for profit sector.

The role requires a high attention to detail, critical thinking and the ability to communicate effectively to maximise community impact. As part of your NED role, you will be expected to attend board meetings on a monthly schedule, preparing and reviewing material relating to grants & programs and being an active part of leading the strategy.

In order to be considered for this role, the applicant is required to meet the following criteria:

  • Be sufficiently experienced in business to ensure the sound and timely advice to the Foundation.
  • Have the skills, competencies, knowledge and expertise necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities allocated to him or her.
  • Have no major conflicts of interest, in particular with other Not For Profit organisations within the same field and/or with persons of interest.
  • Have leadership and management experience

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to provide a National Police Clearance no less than 6 months old.
