JOB DESCRIPTION
Befriend a lonely senior in your local community
Provide friendship and companionship to older people
Give a helping hand to those who need it the most
Miss having a yarn with your grandparents? Learn from those wiser, and volunteer to visit the young at heart and keep them connected to the communities they love. No doubt you’ll develop a soft spot for adorable seniors and be able to simultaneously brighten their day!
We’re looking for volunteers from the Gold Coast to Grafton (NSW) to help keep seniors socially connected with their already vibrant local communities and live bolder lives!
The roles:
Laugh, chat and give purpose to someone’s life through fun, friendly social virtual visits or 1-1 visits to a person in their own home OR;
Provide reliable and safe transport OR;
Accompany clients to exciting events and outings to sharing your interests and hobbies, be it cards, crafting or cars
What does our ideal volunteer look like?
Able and willing to travel to clients
Thrives on helping others
Energised by interacting and engaging with people
Ready to smash stereotypes around ageing
Flexible availability over a three to six-month commitment
Enjoy going out and being part of a greater community
Be compassionate, patient, observant and a good listener
Comfortable using technology (including smartphones and computers) and basic applications
Time commitment:
1 hour a week/fortnight over a six month period
