The Bundaberg Trackside Systems Team are currently seeking a Traction Linesperson (Traction Power Linesperson) to join their team on a permanent full-time basis based in Bundaberg. The purpose of the position is to carry out the installation, maintenance and repair of overhead traction power equipment and report on the performance and condition of the traction power asset to ensure it’s safe and effective operation. This position looks after the Bundaberg to Gladstone region and will require travelling and some working away from home as required, as well as being available for an on call duty roster.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain and repair the overhead traction power equipment in accordance with predefined work programs to ensure the safe and effective operation of the traction power network
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) requirement and legislative policies including work activities performed by subordinate employees
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specifications and standards including work activities performed by subordinate employees
  • Maintain all records and associated documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems
  • Report on actual work performed against scheduled work program and equipment performance and condition irregularities
  • Progress the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of ensuring continuous quality improvement

Key Selection Criteria:
  • Sound knowledge of all types of overhead traction power equipment and their relevant maintenance and installation standards
  • Sound level of skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of overhead traction power equipment to predetermined standards and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of high voltage Safeworking practices and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of WH&S Act and relevant Queensland Rail safety policies and procedures
  • Sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Hold a current national Drivers Licence ‘C’ class – mandatory
  • Electrical Linesperson Licence – mandatory

This opportunity is permanent full-time and works across a 9-day fortnight. You will be required to work weekends, public holidays, nights when required and be on call on a rotating basis. The salary for this role is $69,105 (including allowances) + super + other applicable penalties.
