Position summary

Incorporating five business streams, Downer Engineering offers comprehensive in-house engineering capability including civil, structural, chemical, mechanical and electrical expertise. Working with customers in mining operations for over 75 years, Mineral Technologies , a subsidiary of Downer, delivers innovative, cost effective process solutions for Iron Ore, Mineral Sands, Silica Sands, Coal, Chromite, Gold, Tin, Tungsten, Tantalum and a wide range of other fine minerals worldwide.

The position of Junior Design Drafter is now available based in our Gold Coast/Brisbane or Adelaide offices to provide engineering design drafting input to operation activities in the organisation. Reporting into the Senior Equipment Engineer you will produce engineering drawings, procedure manuals and associated documentation as part of the equipment engineering team.

Key accountabilities:
Produce engineering drawings using CAD for equipment design and details

Work in conjunction with a small team of multi-disciplined Engineers and Drafters to produce innovative design and engineering solutions

Assist and advise other team members within your scope of skills, experience and qualifications

Proof checking of drawings and designs to establish where further details are needed and adding those details as required, including drawing numbers, titles, project specific marking, clarity, correctness and completeness for drawing and design content

Provide details drawing outputs in AutoCAD 2D & 3D as well as SolidWorks 3D

Creating and maintaining accurate 3D models and ensuring interface areas are accurately maintained and communicated

Maintaining paperwork and documentation as directed by leads

Participate in developing objectives and policies within the area of expertise and the department

Become familiar with new technologies and acquire new skills. Maintain an awareness of industry developments and advancement

About you:
Awareness of AutoCAD 2D and 3D

Completed or currently undertaking a CAD or Engineering Diploma or similar (desirable)

Self-driven with a genuine desire in building a successful career as a design drafter

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build co-operative working relationships with colleagues and clients

Excellent organisation skills to maintain paperwork and documentation as directed by leads

A flair for innovation with the courage to think and actively contribute new initiatives that benefit Mineral Technologies

An eye for detail to ensure all tasks and activities are conducted within the requirements of the downer and Mineral Technologies Quality, Environmental and Safety policies and procedures
